Slow emulation?
« on: December 04, 2015, 09:56:06 AM »
Hi everyone,

Quick question, is it known that FBA emulates some games with poor framerates or is it just my settings? I'm talking about Metal Slug X...

Thanks!

Metal Slug X itself has slow frame rates. It's actually a documented thing.

I tried Metal Slug X (on my p4 pc) on both FBA and MAME, and then I loaded both of them side-by-side and watch the attract sequences.  The speed and framerate is exactly the same for both play and side-by-site tests.
You could try the Enhanced Blitter with default settings, and/or try Video -> Blitter Options -> "Disable All Effects".  Also make sure that under "Misc -> Options -> Use Assembly MC68000 core" is OFF (unchecked).

best regards,

  • All games deserve to be emulated, more or less! :P

I played many times with the real arcade version of Metal Slug X and I remember that the game has often considerable slowdowns, essentially every time there are many objects on the screen...
