Strikers 1945 Plus slowdowns
« on: April 01, 2017, 09:16:37 PM »
Hello all new here.  I have been having issues with strikers 1945 plus.  It seems to suffer from a bunch of slowdowns that I do not experience with other games I play.  Does anyone else have this issue or is it just a known problem with the game?  Thank you for the help.

Hi,
The good news: This bug was recently fixed.
Even better news: a new release of FBAlpha should be out within the next day or 2 (or 3). :)

best regards,
- dink

Awesome. Thanks for the reply.

How do I get the fix or do I have to wait till the new release?

Also has this been fixed on retropie as well?

The official release should be any day now, but the fix for libretro-based fbalpha has been available for about a month now, and it works on rpi :)

Yes it was fixed in the fbalpha libretro core in february, so it is available on retropie.

NB : use libretro-fbalpha, not libretro-fbalpha2012 or pifba which are old ports of fbalpha.

Thank you guys for the help. It's greatly appreciated.  I guess ill have to upgrade my RPI to the new version and wait patently for the new PC version to be released.

OK...I upgraded my RPI to the new 4.2.  The game now plays great but there are some sound issues now.

The SFX have a slight scratchy sound to them.  The music skips around or repeats some parts and sometimes the SFX or the music or both just go away completely.

That's weird, i don't think i have this issue, and the people who reported the s1945p slowdowns to me didn't mention the sound issues after the fix either, are you sure it's not a setup issue ? I remember people reporting sound issues on rpi when using a power supply below 2500 mA.

It might be a setup issue but I know I never ran across this before.  I tried a bunch of settings and system bios before the update to try and get it to run smooth but it never messed up the sound.  I'll have to play with it some more.

I confirm i don't have this issue, i just finished the game on my raspberry pi 3, what i recommend :
- Make sure you are using fbalpha-libretro, not fbalpha2012-libretro
- Make sure you are using an updated romset (current one is 0.2.97.39)
- Make sure you are not using some exotic audio/video driver in retroarch (never had issue using gl+alsa for the past few years)

Also, you didn't mention it, what's your raspberry pi ? Raspberry pi zero and Raspberry pi 1 lack the power to run properly most games fbalpha-libretro has to offer.
If you are using a raspberry pi 3, use a 2500mA power supply, or your cpu will sometimes lower its clock, resulting in various issues.
2000mA power supply should be enough for a raspberry pi 2.

If you need more help, i recommend you ask on retropie's forum, i have my own setup on my raspberry pi, which is not based on retropie, so i'm not an expert with retropie.
