Problem setting up keys
« on: September 30, 2015, 10:31:09 AM »
First off all I would like to thank the developer of FBA, it works great so far! I do however have a problem setting up my keys.

I can set the input key's for each game perfectly, but I can't seem to set the input for all games. I've tried making it default and edditing the preset.ini but still each games uses the default FBA settings and not the one in the preset.ini. I've read the help that is included and it should work, but it doesnt

Am I doing something wrong or is this just a bug?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
Try this and see if it helps:
Load up Konami's Vendetta (World, 4 P. Ver. T)
Press F5 after it loads and set up P1's controls and coin/start

Step #1: click "Save Preset" - it will say "the preset was saved...." -> click OK.
Step #2: Pull down the first drop-down box and select "Player 1"
Step #3: Pull down the second drop-down box and select at the bottom of the list "preset"
Step #4: now click the Make Default button.

Now all the other games that you load will use those settings. :)

best regards,

Part #2 - Neogeo games...

These games use different buttons than arcade games, so a little editing is necessary.
Step #1: Load up a Neogeo game, set up the buttons. In this example, the Neogeo game will be Andro Dunos.  After the buttons are set up, click OK and close FBA.

Step #2: Load fbadir\config\presets\preset.ini in an editor, put it aside
Step #3: Load fbadir\config\games\androdun.ini
Step #4: in the editor with androdun.ini, select and copy the lines "P1 Button A" to "P1 Button D"
Step #5: in the editor with preset.ini, paste those 4 lines you marked and copied on a new line right under "P1 Button 2", then save it and close both editors.

Thats it, time for some games :)

Thank you Dink!

Gonna try it tonight and report back!

I use FBA only for my neo geo games.

For some weird reason when I booted up the emulator today all my keys were set, even in games I didn't play.

Thanks anyway for the quick and good advice!

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but i'm trying to follow these instructions and i'm stuck on Step #5 as I do not see any line that says "P1 Button 2" inside preset.ini

Been trying for hours to get the configuration to stick for all games.

Hi chanfle,
Part #2 (neogeo) is a continuation of Konami's Vendetta (second message in the thread), so you'll need to set that up first, it's where the "P1 Button 2" comes from :)
