You are correct. I think this topic should be unpinned at least, if not closed as well.

Finished the Carnival (vic dual) emulation last night - what a great game! :)
This exe contains the latest GIT as well.

Projects / let's try to emulate kof 2002 ps2 v1.0 egcg hack
« Last post by dink on January 16, 2019, 12:38:13 am »
The King of Fighters 2002 Ps2 1.0 EGCG&GSC2007 MAME hack...
Let's try to hack this hack, then emulate it... maybe?

(more info&etc) kofonteam @ facebook

So far I found out about this hack:
x it uses a closed-source version of MAME w/the debugger key disabled - but all code for the debugger is in the exe.  (It's safe to run)
x it uses 4 instances of the audiocpu w/4 soundlatches
x sends a soundlatch to one of the 4 audiocpu's based on character selected.

Need volunteer: someone who can get the debugger to work w/the custom mame that comes with this hack.  The ecgc guys probably mapped it to some other function to hide it.  Actual mame debugger code is in the exe, though.

My worst mistake was buying Tiger Heli over Mega Man on the NES.

The DBZ games still had bad French translations back then, despite being popular on TV...
Thanks for double checking, dink.

Its a badly translated game as usual :)
Yeah, unlike France where it was aired on national tv in early 90s (wednesday afternoon, with saint seiya and hokuto no ken xD), i think this anime came late in USA, most likely the video game was prior to airing in USA.

Cool. I assume the "Vegeeta" name is not a bug but the way they romanized his name in this game? Just pointing it out because it was "Vege ta" before your fix. Couldn't quickly find out how it looks in MAME.

edit: that extra E is really in the sprite list (along with all the other missing text), I painstakingly checked!

My 3 bros and I pooled our money to buy TMNT for PC... but in the end, we didn't regret it. We had fun with it. Back then, you couldn't be too picky; when you were stuck with one or more bad games, you played them to death anyway. I've played much worse games than TMNT for PC. It's a masterpiece compared to Fatman for the Mega Drive, for example.

FBA Development / git diff pagination annoyance (git r dun!)
« Last post by dink on January 14, 2019, 10:54:01 pm »
Here's a tip that might be helpful to those that work under mingw shell.  doing a "git diff ." to see what was changed has a really nice more-like pagination, but when it gets to the end of the listing, it will "get stuck" at [END] prompt, requiring you to press 'q' to get back to the commandline.
To get rid of this annoying end prompt, edit \mingw\msys\1.0\etc\profile and add this line to the end of the file:
Code: [Select]
export LESS="$LESS -FRXKE"

that's all :)
