'dat' file info differs from game list?
« on: August 11, 2008, 05:41:00 AM »
I just now realized there was a new version of RomCenter today so I upgraded, but now I'm confused. The available list is a lot different than the game list inside of FBA. For example, instead of having 1941 World and 1941 Japan, the dat file states that only the Japan version exists. This had a huge impact on my collection, cutting over half of them to either missing files or unknown games. It seems weird that the older version of RC told me that all of them were good and then using the same dat file in the new version just wipes them out. Any ideas as to why it's different?

another example: 1945kiii is listed as unknown in the dat but contains the exact same CRC files as listed under game information in FBA.  :S
I really hope it's not a RomCenter problem; I don't know what I'd do without it...

Has the romcenter dat file format changed in any way? I use ClrMAME and I know the dat works for that (LogiqX uses it to update CAESAR as well). I can only assume RomCenter dats worked before it updated. Both sets are in the output so it must be a format change.

I might get around to it but I really don't use RomCenter.

Yeah actually it has changed. In this new version (3.00) it takes the DAT file and creates a .RDT (romcenter data file) game database out of it.

Now that I realize that, I feel a whole lot better...  :p I guess it all has to do with FBA adapting to those changes, right?

I'll take a look at ClrMAME, by the way.

It looks like they must have changed something and FBA's module to output RomCenter dats will need updating.

Had quick look at some dats and i think I see the problem - try this dat.cpp file - should hopefully work. :)

Thanks a ton for the fix; it worked exactly as intended.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, im just getting used to this new version because it's cleaning things up different than it used to.

also I peeked at clrmame and I could tell it wasn't for me (yet) I get the feeling it assumes I want or have every set, and I seem to be able to navigate and organize things quicker within RC
