Hi, everyone!
Is it possible to change the speed during NeoGeo CDZ emulation, so that the loads are just as slow as in the real console?
The emulator is quite fast, like double the speed of a CDZ it seems, even without pressing F1, but I would like to know how the real speed feels, because I want to buy one. Of course, playing and watching a video is not the same thing, so that's why. (^_^)b
I did Google this but I couldn't find an answer.
Thanks!

The loading speed should be at 225%. Iirc, on real hardware, those loading screens can stay up to ~50s for some games, and there can also be multiple loading screen in a game.
No, there is no key to disable this.
-
I see. Thank you very much for the answer!
The emulation on FBN is soooo good, it's too bad we can't slow down, but I guess most people actually want to go faster, so it's understandable. xD
Once again, thank you very much for the answer!

I see more requests for totally skipping it :)

Isn?t possible to make fbneo act like a neocdz emu? It have an option called "CDRomSpeedLimit" in ini file, that can simulate 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x and no limits.
It shows only a faster loading screen...

Not possible without a major rework of the cd reader code afaik, because speed higher than 225% will make the neogeo cd bios crash (error 0002), so it'll probably stay like this for a long time, except if an external contributor want to improve this.

Press (and hold) F1 if you want faster loading.
or shift+F1 to toggle ffwd. :)

not even use this maximum speed during loading only?

You could try the other dedicated emulator for it with great game compatibility along with all the available multiple speed options mentioned above !!

if you had read posts above, you would not write this ...
Better to let developers respond.

Can you please tell me where can I find this option? ^^, the only .ini I found was fbneo.ini in my config folder, but it does not have "CDRomSpeedLimit" on it.
I'm using FinalBurn Neo v1.0.0.01.

It seems there are some misunderstandings, so i'll repeat :
- cd speed is set to 225%
- if set faster, some games will randomly crash on loading screens with an error 0002 (https://wiki.neogeodev.org/index.php?title=DISC_I/O_ERROR)
- that cd speed only affect loading
- it can't be changed

I see!, I was just curious since I cound't find that option in my .ini, hehe. ;p
About the crash if set faster, my intention was to make it slower, but if it can't be changed, then it can't be helped.
But thank you for clarifying things!

This option is in an older neogeocd emulator, called neocdz, not in fbneo.

Ok, I understood.
About this old emu that doesn?t have loading screen...do you imagine how it works???

No, and i don't care tbh, if ppl can't accept there is a bit of loading time with neocd, they should just play mvs/aes.

I understand your point of view, however you and i know that neocd sound is incredible superior.
Ok, no more requests about it.

Oh, I see. So that's why I couldn't find it.
Thanks for the answer!

And has inferior gfx. Tbh i'm not a huge fan of snk soundtracks personally, i can't remember one that i would call a masterpiece, so not having them with "cd quality" doesn't make much difference for me, and i think "chip tunes" has its own charm anyway.

You're right about gfx.
Here a link with some comparison about (in french)
