Rebuild romset with Clrmame without clone roms

 I downloaded a romset for FBNeo because i am interested in NeoGeo games. Even though the romset is specific to FBNeo i saw instructions that RetroArch users need to rebuild the romset with Clrmame. I have already learned how to use Clrmame with tutorials and where to find specific .dat files for each system in the Libretro community. My problem is that in rebuild i am having duplicate or triplicate roms.... Clrmame creates variations of the base rom based on the information in the .dat file along with the "Non-Merge" option. I just want to create a rebuild with NeoGeo base roms without clones of the same game. How can i create a rebuild with Clrmame filtering the roms? Another question; Should the rebuild for FBNeo for RetroArch be of the "Separete Bios file" type? The system i'm playing on is the Raspberry Pi3 with Recalbox.
