Whenever I try to use fullscreen I get the following error
Problem setting '0x0x0bpp (171200393Hz)' display mode.
I've tried combinations of different video settings and nothing seems to make a difference. It works fine in window view. A list of what I'm using is below.
FB Alpha 2.97.29
Windows 8
Nvidia GTX260
Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

Ultrabump! If anybody complains, they better have a stronger reason than "this post is old" because it wasn't resolved back then, either.
I'm seeing the same issue with FB Alpha v0.2.97.34 (unicode) on Windows 8.1 on an Asus Transformer Book T100 (some kinda onboard Intel graphics). Here's an attempt using the SoftFX blitter:
Obviously those are insane values and not what I have set (24-bit color, 1366*768 pixels). In fact, the numbers seem to vary depending on the selected blitter. The "resolution" seems to be stable across multiple attempts with the same blitter, while the Hz rates are off the charts and seem to be different on each attempt. A single example of each follows (note the SoftFX Hz does not match the above capture):
Basic: 2002554192x202485680x0bpp (202485648Hz)
SoftFX: 2002554192x0x0bpp (14354168Hz)
Enhanced: 0x0x0bpp (13596152Hz)
Switching to one of the DirectX 9-based blitters appears to resolve the problem and I can enter full screen without issue, so it's not really affecting my enjoyment of FBA, I just figured it was worth reporting. There's another report of the same issue separate to the topic post here on the board, quoted here to try to keep things centralized.
Hi,
When I try to launch a rom I get a:
Problem setting '18x33433168x-1224403237bpp (1970235185Hz)' display mode
Would you have any idea on what it should be?
(I'm testing it on a VAIO SVE1712S1EB under Windows8)
Thanks!!

Hello,
Under the Video tab, please check and make sure that the Fullscreen resolution (Horizontal & vertical) & Bit depth is set to something normal :) (doing this fixed it for someone a few months back)
best regards,

Yep, horizontal is set to Other: 1366*768 and vertical is Other: 768*1366 (i.e. I rotate my screen). Bit-depth is set to 24-bit. Dropping down to lower resolutions or 16-bit color depth doesn't help either--unless I'm running one of the DX9 blitters, where everything works as expected.
-
Try selecting 1366*768 for both h and v, does that help?
-
No change; it works as long as I'm running a DX9 blitter, but anything else objects and drops back to windowed mode.

Its possible that your video card only supports dx9 for fullscreen, sometimes when the numbers come back all weird like that, its because the video card or driver rejects the mode.

Since this is the first result on Google for this issue, I figured I'd post my solution. I'm using Windows 10.
Setting FightCade to Windows XP compatibility mode fixed the problem for me. That's all.

Set the bitdepth for fullscreen to 32bit.
FBA's default is set to 16bit. but 16bit display modes are no longer supported by Windows 8 or higher. The dx9 blitter will still use 16bit internally, so there is no reason to use 16bit display modes.
