What is this?
Simply put, this is a G6/M3 Real region patcher.

Purpose:
This program can modify a file meant for region 'a' to work
on region 'b' hardware. It is possible to switch between
Big5 (Chinese), GB (Chinese), English, and Japanese without
having to modify the actual hardware.

Instructions:
Simply extract the system file (g6dsload.something) and this
program to the same directory, run the patcher program,
type the g6dsload's complete file name (including extension)
choose the region of your card, and that should be it.

Notice:
I do not have a M3/G6 Real cart and have not extensivly tested
this, so I take no responsibility if this somehow bricks your
flash cart. While, AFAIK, there is a 0.000001% chance of this
happening, I just want to cover my bases.

Interesting tool IQ :smilie:, I still coming here almost every day checking what u have done and is cool to see stuff like this man ^^, I wish that I had the time right now to work on emulation, but well, there will be time in the future :p

I'm glad you're still around cap :) As for the date, yeah, too little sleep makes me screw things up lol.
As for your karma, that's my doing. ;) I wanted to see how high it would go, and apparently it stops at
0xFFFF. :)

BTW, I would like to know which version of the firmware did you work on to create this patch?
Do you mind checking out the new firmware they have now and see if they look compatible, because E07 is not the same as E06 (i just see that from the file creation date), and E07 and E08 seem to have the same g6dsload.eng

It's fairly likely that it still works. I don't really have any way of checking myself, I don't have one of these cards myself. Btw, this mod should not be able to hurt your card in any way. If it doesn't work, just re-load the system files and viola, you're good to go.

To understand the instruction perfectly, can you verify the process below in applying the patch is correct?
TO PATCH ENGLISH FIRM to work on China Card:
- Download E06 Patch English version
- Put Patch file set into the same folder with g6dsload.eng
- Input g6dsload.eng as the filename
- Choose BIG5 or GB for it to work on BIG5 or GB version China card
At last, do i have to delete the g6dsload.eng file before copying the entire folder over?

You should only need to replace the g6dsload.gb or g6dsload.bg5 on the cart.

I have a Japanese version of M3 Real.
I have try to patch last E9 firmware to Jap: just apply patch on g6dsload.eng
Result : the M3 boot, i can choose my language, i try to print menu but show a balck screen.
have I to patch other file?

I try to patch the menu.eng too. but I had the same result: black screen on the back screen and blue M3 screen on top.

I am having trouble with the E15 firmware, as it boots up to only a black and blue screen. I wonder if you can take another look to update the patch.

BTW, I figured out.
It works now.
To whom may use this:
Make sure you set GB instead of BIG5, because the default loads GB.

I asked it since I'm planning on purchasing a Chinese M3 DS Real. It's the only version available and the hardware modification seems a lot for someone like me.
For those who have a Chinese M3 DS Real, please do post if the latest v2.9 System files is compatible with the soft. region patcher in this thread.

Hi, IQ & folks!
Here's what I tried in soft-modding E19 to get it working on Chinese HW
Patch G6dsload.eng to G6dsload.gb and all "matching" files (keeping same name) means seeking for the Xored DSBooter pattern -> only lang chooser works (black screen, after)
Patch only G6dsload.eng to G6dsload.gb -> lang chooser works, menu appears 1/4 sec and dies (it somewhat boots but crashes)
Any Ideas?

Um I have a problem. I'm new to this so I get confused alot. I bought a chinese m3ds, and wan't the language to be english. So I donwloaded your patcher, and patched both the g6dsload.eng and the menu.eng. When I come upon the screen that asks for you language, it says that it can't find a file for english when I choose it. I tried doing it without patching the menu.eng and it starts, but then the bottom screen goes black and it crashes. Now everytime I choose english it just crashes with a white screen. Do you know how I could make it work?

I was was reading alot of posts about this in other forums , and think it's because the firmware is too new. So does anybody know what firmware they were using when this worked? If so could you send me a link to a download?

To be honest, I don't remember. You'll have to cross reference the date I posted the program with the release dates of the firmwares. :S

Ok guys, I was very intressed in this post as I recently bought a M3 Ds Real (a white -Chinese region) for my daughter by mistake (website didn't mention this..). Here is what I did and it works.
First go to:

and download the latest versions of the firmware for your card (both the Chinese version and the English version), latest version of firmware is:
M3 DS Real Firmware Version 3.7f (release-date: 3.jun2008), and unpack. (and of course download the patcher)
I first checked if my card worked with the downloaded Chinese firmware (and it did), so all buttons are in Chinese. Meaning my card works the sys-file named: g6dsload.gb (you will need to know this to use the patcher, so you know with region to chose when you use the patcher)
Now just follow the instructions made with the patcher (patcher only works with xp-machine NOT vista (the patcher shuts down)).
Once you have a patched sys-file: g6dsload.gb replace the original one in the firmware with this one.
Once you restart your DS with the M3 you will be able to chose with language you want to run (English works...)
So for those intrested, yes the patcher works with the latest firmware.

Hi skc, no you have to make a patched file on your computer. Before you start read the instructions with the patcher... If you have a white M3 try if it works with the latest original Chinese sys-file(you downloaded) on your SD-card. If it works, then put the patcher in the English sys-file (you also downloaded) on your computer and use it as instructed (this will create a new file named: g6dsload.gb, in the English sys-file). Copy this new file (g6dsload.gb) to the Chinese sys-file on your SD-card (you will be asked if you want to replace the original file named g6dsload.gb >> Yes). So you only need a the Chinese sys-file on your SD-card with the patched file: g6dsload.gb. Now if you restart your Ds you will be asked which language you want to use - select: English. Greetz

Hello pendragonssword, I did same procedure as you mentioned, but still cannot. The only difference is my card is english version, so I have to patch the g6dsload.gb from downloaded chinese firmware to g6dsload.eng then copy it to my card. Then the m3 real show a error message that no system menu can be found after I choose the langauge. Afterward I copy all files related .gb from downloaded firmware to my card and switch on again then the m3 real allow me to see the main menu about 1 second then the menu become black colour and freezed.

Hi, skc If I understand, you want to change an English M3 to Chinese. The Chinese sys-file contains an English menu but the English sys-file does not contain an Chinese menu. I personally tried placing the Dutch menu in the patched Chinese sys-file but then it crashed. Didn't do any further testing after that. Perhaps you can try copying all "files.gb" to the patched English sys-file... sorry I can't help you solve it. :redface:

The region patcher was perfectly worked on V3.7 or the former versions of M3 Real software, but it had not worked on V3.8 or the later version. I guess M3 team added some region checks other than individual encoding per each region. :cool:
I would appreciate it if the patcher could be applied to V3.8 and V3.9 versions too.
