Added the files for a test version of a Neo Geo game.
Recently there has been quite a bit of news about companies discontinuing game development for arcade systems. These companies can’t justify developing games for the arcade, when they only sell small numbers. I would like to put together a group of people to develop games for the arcade. The group could target systems ranging from the machines of the early 80’s all the way up to the late 90’s. This group would initially share in the profits created from game sales. The eventual goal would be to have the group be self sufficient. Most, if not all, of the people working in this group would be from the initial group of volunteers.

The group is in need of:
  • Programmers with experience in 6502, 68000, Z80, etc assembly language programming.
  • Artists with experience in 8x8 or 16x16 tile drawing using 16 colors.
  • Artists with experience in sprite/character animation.
  • Game designers with experience in arcade game development.
  • Musicians with experience in ‘chip’ based music development. (ie Yamaha YM2151, YM2149, etc)
  • Electronics design people with experience in rom creation, and knowledge of mass producing roms.
Later needs may include:
  • Public relations and sales people.
  • Artists with 3D modeling skills.

Sites
Arcade Development Central is my collection of information about programming arcade hardware. The site contains sources, information, and tools for programming 8 arcade systems.
The MAME website also contains information on compiling MAME. You'll probably want to recompile MAME to use the debugger.

Files
The source code to an early NeoGeo test version of a game.
The graphics to an early NeoGeo test version of a game.
The roms to an early NeoGeo test version of a game.
Tume tools is a collection of utilities to work with Tume and PCX files.
Mailing Lists
The ArcadeDev mailing list is for the discussion of programming arcade hardware.
The ArcadeProject mailing list is for coordination between members of The Arcade Development Project.
The Atari Graphics & Arcade Game Design site contains some nice information on developing arcade games. It was written for 8 bit Atari computers, but contains information valid for any arcade game.
