Konami GX
« on: August 09, 2024, 01:34:06 AM »
Okay, I had just typed a wonderful message concerning the Konami GX arcade emulation, but it got stuck in a second login process to post, and now it is lost somewhere where no message could ever come back precisely the same as it was initially. Call it an analogical mistake, the impossible doability of the stuff. Well, it's stuck for eternity now!
Essentially my question was, is the MAME imperfect emulation state, that will lead to missing background layers at some stage point in Sexy Parodius, is due to an incorrect PCB dump? Resulting in the need to rip off a "new" PCB ? Or is it just a lack of craze cause most Konami GX games were also goodly ported on PSX / Saturn?
I know Konami GX PCBs are reputed to be very fragile.

Thanks for your good work and give sweet arcade games the love they deserve.

There is no "bad dump" flag in MAME's source code for those roms : https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/5c2a4a552048863014743471f24dfdc3c838b633/src/mame/konami/konamigx.cpp#L2329C1-L2356C8

I'd say some components on those boards are just not entirely understood.

Hi, you surely refer to "components" as some ESC protection chip. I saw the todo list! Well, first how to know without doubt that no custom 3D chips are also used to display 2D-only layer parts? Bit of a silly question but let's start at this point.
