Title: MAME script for tiny compiles ?
Post by: miko on February 06, 2005, 09:33:49 PM
hi everybody, first time i posted on here  :o
i have an idea/question
is there such a thing as a script/program which, ideally,
would have a list of the source (like in mame32 (neogeo.c etc))
and would allow me to check/uncheck each one
to produce a make file for a sutable tiny compile ?

from what i've read they changed the way these compiles are made up and that should be possible.

i wanted to make a small compile recently with just some selected drivers/games as my pc is only 900MHz and all the chd and 3d stuff is pretty much beyond me (and MAME itself is getting huge). but i couldn't find any decent info. when i did find some i ended up thinking someone should write a script. but its beyond me right now, i've gone back to basics to learn html and javascript :o
i think someone could make such a thing in vbs or something.

if there is such a thing out there please point me at it,
if not, shame, i think the MAME users/compilers would love it.
miko.

You will not get any speed increase by doing that .

A smaller exe would make less of a RAM footprint on the system. If you had a ghetto PC and only played CPS2/NeoGeo games then it would take some of the overhead off the PC. Its not going to affect game perfomance though. Either the cpu is fast enough to run the game or its not.

Most importantly IMHO is it will compile WAAAAY faster.
