I really need a savestate from the mame 0260_x64 exe that's provided with the game on the sfz3mix site, so I can debug it from mame. It would really be helpful

Hmmm, if the lightning effect is some kind of raster effect (it probably is ?), i'd think it's entirely possible that this is a game bug since some cps2 raster effects are entirely unemulated in MAME.

This one was certainly down to a bug in the hack, tile address + offset was written to vram - the offset is supposed to be added by the hardware as it reads the tile. anyhoo, I guess MAME masked that out somehow. Should be fine now
