FBA Development / Re: FBA Neo Makefile for libretro?

I think i understand your issue, you expected a mapping close to the console version ? That's something i don't mind doing, and from looking at current mapping, it might be a good idea to use more precise labels in codebase's InputList too, to make re-mapping easier.

Done, default mapping should be nicer now, and it will be easier to remap with the proper labels now showing.

FBA Discussion / super evil gng
« Last post by dink on Today at 12:59:04 AM »
Hey guys...
I just had the worst game of Ghosts and Goblins (World, Set 1) in history.  Ended up getting to the end of the first loop 3 times without getting the shield weapon!  Of course, then it sent me back a few levels, only to not offer up a shield weapon at all -each time-.

For those who don't know, I can play GNG endlessly on 1 coin, and to this date, I've never had it happen.  I might get sent back to find the shield once, but then get it and move on..

Ideas?

best regards,
- dink

FBA Discussion / Re: Networking/Linked machines

It would be kinda neat if someone wanted to figure out how to link one (or more) of those games, as far as I know, nobody has tried yet.

FBA Discussion / Networking/Linked machines
« Last post by Hydreigon on May 26, 2019, 11:43:27 PM »
Title says it all. Haven't seen any threads regarding this discussion of using two emulator instances to link each other in games that support that. The most common way would be to...
  • Set up either two emulator directories.
  • Set up an ini file in each directory stating the rx port and tx port.
  • Set one both emulators to their respective network ids (master or slave) either via dipswitch or test mode.
  • Have fun :)
Now for the list of games in this emulator that have networking capabilities:
  • Super Street Fighter II - The Tournament Battle, CPS2
  • Riding Hero, Neo Geo
  • League Bowling, Neo Geo
  • Thrash Rally, Neo Geo
  • F-1 Grand Prix
  • F-1 Grand Prix Part II
  • Driver's Edge, IT32
  • Dirt Fox, Namco System 2 (the rest of the linkable games on this hardware are unplayable)
  • GP Rider, Sega X Board, only released as a twin cabinet using a shared ram sub-board to bridge the two pcbs, not a network link.
  • Super Monaco GP, Sega X Board
  • Royal Ascot, Sega X Board, incomplete dump.
  • Power Drift - Link Version, Sega Y Board, currently in MAME but not in FB
  • Cadash
  • Ground Effects
  • Gunbuster
  • Double Axel, Taito Z
  • Racing Beat, Taito Z
  • Chase Bombers
  • More to come soon
Most of these games communicate via shared ram controlled by either an additional cpu or custom chip. How these functions are mapped obviously depends on the hardware. Sega X and Y board's network pcb are similar in design. Namco System 2's method of linking, C139, is used in later hardware that may or may not be supported. I hope this thread will serve well to this community.

sniper856, thanks for the bug report, should be fixed now :)

barbudreadmon, can you believe - it was the speedhack again :P  I think I got a good value in there which should be compatible with all of the "problematic" games, but, it does need testing.

best regards,
- dink

Thank you, I will wait for a libretro update or the new FBNEO to be able to test and report to you  ;p

I had a guess, that's why i asked for bios and overclock settings, i remember all the odd cases where it would only happen with unibios set to USA, or with overclocking.

hello thank you for your answer, no I did not use overclocking and the bios was in MVS ASIA EUR memory. This is an old problem that I mentioned several years ago. Thank you guys for taking care of it, you are great.

do you remember which game it was that had issues with alternate bios's and the speedhack?  I can't remember :(  I'd like to test it with the new code.
