Remember that Lemmings Genesis / Mega Drive hack that brought the colors closer to the Amiga version? They made a version for the SNES port as well.

Another Genesis / Mega Drive patch... this time wave has translated to Spanish the game Pirates! Gold.

We already could with the original game: Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (World) / md_sks2
The point of this ROM hack is to readd Sonic and Tails into that game. Then again, I'd rather play Sonic 2 VS instead.

Ahhh... OK. I though I had my facts straight, but no. No need for the hack then.

The pics come from the games' internal video format (makes sense to me..?), which of course is 1:1, but, in the UI we aspect-correct them before display.

Hmmm ok, i thought the UI didn't correct aspect after noticing some dual-screen 8:3 games had a thumbnail of 1 screen only (ex.: scross).
Now i'm wondering why the UI ends up applying a 4:3 for those thumbnails instead of the 8:3 from the driver, i'll have to look at the code sometime.

@7zxkv i think the repo has some thumbnails that might be missing from the packs


I'm going to take them back and add them, then recompress them all with PNGGauntlet (which is very time-consuming). What would be nice is to use the recompressed versions afterwards, so that we're all starting from the same base. We might not gain a lot, but it's still better in principle. I will come back to let you know when it's done, thank you 😉

additional note:
i have also been wondering what's the aspect ratio we should use for thumbnails, a lot of those thumbnails are using the 1:1 pixel aspect ratio (meaning a width:height display aspect ratio), but it seems to me that it'd make more sense if our thumbnails respected the game's intended display aspect ratio (4:3, 3:4, etc...). Some thumbnails, especially from vertical games, look kind of weird if you don't, there are even some cases where a vertical game has higher width than height if you ignore the display aspect ratio (ex.: mustache).
